During my Junior and Senior year at FIU (2016-2017) I had the honor to serve as Assistant Secretary of USNC for UN Women FIU. This was one of the most important things during my undergrad time. This organization changed my life forever. I had the opportunity to share ideas, projects and be hands on in activism with a incredible group of empowered women who work towards real change for women around the world. This was an experience that shaped my perspective on women’s rights forever. The dynamic of this club that works closely with the UNWomen Miami Chapter make us achieve many milestones. The club efforts are aligned with the efforts of the organization and follow the main campaigns at national level.

The UNWomen 5K was a successful for two consecutive years as a fundraising outlet that led the Chapter and received a National recognition for its efforts. These efforts were possible because of the incredible talent and work of the FIU Club Board Members.
Another achievement was the orange lighting of the Freedom Tower, this kicked off the 16 days of activism to end violence against women around the world. Starting every 25th of November- The International Day for Elimination of Violence against Women to the 10th of December- Human Rights Day. This was a dream come true for the club since we made it possible for our city of Miami to join the rest of the world where many landmarks were orange lighted as well.
The continuous effort to educate the FIU population on the issues that affect women such as inequality on all aspects, is for me one of the most important things happening on campus. Throughout many events, community service projects, and workshops I was able to actively engage and be a part of a group committed to changing the world one bit at a time.
I am extremely proud to say I am UNWomen.
